Where you are (LoS) a north wind will be fishable up to a F6 so long as you dont stray off too far. If it was from the south then a F5 would be very unpleasant.

We had a poor day, as most boats semed to do. We had a whiting, dogs, pout, one spotted ray and a conger.

I heard of three cod between all the boats, one of 8lb one of 10 and one of 13 but there were a lot of boats out there. I heard of charter boat that blanked thats how slow it was.

I know it is a bit late now but I always have a gaff handy when cod fishing. I had the same experience a year ago and have gaffed big cod ever since. Much easier than trying to manouvre a big cod into the net and the damage does not really matter cos it aint going back!

Shame about the lost one mate
I use a gaff like this find it just right on a small boat, easy to keep safe and saves on the fingers when gutting and washing them.

2ft off a  broom handle with a 12/o hook works well ............... ps buy the wife a new broom they get teasey Wink
