DAY 5 - 16/04/13

All ribs are glassed in place, a glass sump made instead of making one out of ply.

the sump has got a 2" flange all round to allow the new deck to be bonded on top.

The bottom will be flowcoated out tomorrow ready for the deck to go down Thursday.

Looks a nice job..... The feel of the boat under way will also feel totally different, like someone's taken the mattress out from under you feet.   I fitted an Auto pump on the outside of that tpe of sum sat right down in the gutter......

I know what the reason for it is going to be (I think) but is this something that is done as standard?

You can mix empty (capped) plastic bottles with balls to make them go further. This is common practice when refurbishing a boat but as far as I know it is not done by boat manufacturers. They prefer to fll voids with foam and leave the problem for later owners.
