Hi all

My dad who is nearly 70 is visiting this weekend and would like to go beachcasting now although he is in relatively good shape for his age he does have a dodgy ticker and his legs are not what they used to be.

He is able to walk for about 5 minutes or so provided the ground is not to uneven however, he will have his trolley with his kit on and me as his pack horse.

Ideally I am looking for advise on a location with access to a carpark close by and as I am new to the area the only places I know of are the Haslar sea wall, Stokes bay and the lifeboat station that may fit the bill.

Any advise on locations, bait, rigs etc would be gratefully received.

This trip is important to me as we have not fished together for some 30 years so would like make a nice memorable weekend of it, we will be travelling from Fort Blockhouse so plan to fish there on the Saturday but Friday is where I am stuck.

Many thanks in advance

I would recommend Hasler wall as it has easy access and not far to walk have always caught fish there, good luck hope your dad has a good time and catches some fish.

I agree Haslar is the ideal spot really. There is a car park by the golf club that is free and after negotiating a flat but gravelly wasteland you are greeting by the concrete path of the Sea Wall. The other advantage is that there are numerous seating opportunities too.

So the trip was a reasonable success we fished the sea wall at Haslar sadly we only accounted for a very small Wrasse but never the less a memorable day. Many thanks for the advice.
