I've got a Daiwa Supercast with a 7HT multiplier and wanted to try casting with my reel down the butt.  From reading other sites it seems that you use a reducer to aid reeling in.  It seems a bit of an effort though to have to constantly add remove a section of the rod? Couldn't the rod get damaged in the process on the beach, say if you get a bite as the bait hits the water?

Is it possible /practical to use a sliding reeel seat that will just allow the reel to be positioned once the rig is cast out?.

Thnx,

GoFish.

I did at one time fit two reel seats one in the down the butt position and one higher up. that worked OK but to be honest it is probably easier just to slot the reducer in when retrieving.

Freshwater anglers do it all the time when pole fishing sometimes shipping half a dozen sections at a time.
