Spent long day out yesterday sandown area. Bass, Mackerel (one), whiting, one undulate and several thornbacks to 11lb (still trying to work out why I put my fingers in the largest ones mouth to retrieve a hook) and plenty of dogs in late afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Stopped off at the forts on the way back and managed 6 good sized mackerel before my engine packed up and had to be towed back to Gosport by seastart. Lots of fish shoals showing at forts so hopefully the mackerel are starting to show. I'm convinced I could of filled my coolbox if it wasn't for my breakdown.
Hopefully I can get my engine looked at before weekend. Anyone know a good Mercury outboard engineer close to Gosport marina?

Also out had some mackerel at Culver. Discovered that the radar strut had only been silkaflexed and screwed on when it fell off going over a wake!! Not happy I won't name who put it on but it was meant to be bolted , not happy. Luckily was very calm , have now taken it off fully and will get it refitted properly.
Hope the weather stays.

Thanks Dave, i will share the spot when i see you. Was not far south east of u shaped bank if that makes sense. Quarter of a mile from where i blanked a couple of weeks ago 😩
I will try Mark. I used him extensively when i was up in southampton and he supplies me with all my servicing parts. Wasnt sure if he would travel that far but will call him in the morning. Was hoping to get someone quickly so i can get back out at weekend but that might not be possible

Just thought I would share that Mark at MB Marine cannot be more highly rated. Top man, extremely busy but has given me great advice and help with a couple of relatively easy things to try. If I cannot solve the problem myself, he will get out to me.
Dave, I mentioned your recommendation, he was very pleased.
