Christens my boat yesterday went plaiceing local to Southsea   We had 1 on 1.8 pound another. A mate. Drifting. Nearby. Had. 3 around the same. Size heard of 9. At the. Blocks. All small. So all looking. Good. Local. Great. Day to test the. Boat. As it was really. Doggy. And. The new. Electronics. Take a. Bit. Getting used to them. All good

Well done Ray you did a lot better than us, went out Saturday punching tide for an hour then headed west solent in fog so fished well out of the busy channel. Caught bass and smooth hound on rigs covered in bling!. We thought we were on gravel and sand but when we lifted the anchor it was covered in black mud which explains the lack of place.lol

Back in the day they used lead lines with a hollow filled with tallow underneath to sample the bottom. We should do that now.

get yaself an admiralty chart which shows you what the bottom is made up of s for sand m for mud sh shells rocks for rocky kelp for kelp and so on works for me in fact I got an app www.flytomap.com
