ok chaps   ive got that much electronics crap on the   boat now ive been told a solar panel   that would   trickle charge   my service battery would be a good idea or not that is the   question please chaps ive looked on google and its an absolute mine field   of   stuff looking forward as always to the good advice handed out on here

I bought one for 50 off ebay, it got a regulator built-in (that's needed to convert/stabilize the current from the panel into 12v DC)  to charge the battery that feeds a bilge pump in the dinghy. This setup has been up for 2 years now and working wonderfully.
