Saturday- went up east. Had several smoothound to 13lb, 2 small tope, 8 plaice (5 keepers), 2 small bass, gurnards and loads of macks. Some tiny ones but also, like Ray, some jumbos up to 1.5lb

Away from the Solent:
Last week (day after the chemical cloud)went plaicing off Pevensey on charter from Eastbourne. 6 of us had 105 (94 keepers) with one of 5.5lb and another 6 between 3lb - 4lb. It always produces well from July to November 7 most local commercials have had their limits.Apart from going miles out for turbot, the fishing, apart from plaice has been poor with just Pollock on the wrecks. Cod seem to have disappeared. Back for another go at them on Wednesday (weather permitting)

Interesting - I thought the one around Eastbourne was an isolated one. One theory is that it was a ship discharging something into the air & maybe it went your way heading west from Eastbourne area or vice versa. They are checking shipping at that time so your info may well support that.
The other theory is that it came from an old wreck's disintegrating cargo and got blown onshore but not quite sure about that one.
Next Wednesday looks unlikely to happen looking at the weather chart.
