Mid Channel wrecking for us. Headed West down towards the Legs
Fished approx nine to ten wrecks. (Caroline moaned when we fished one at 337 ft depth.. )
Sea was a millpond, water was crystal blue and sun was blazing, and I have a burnt head!!!!!!

Went to Kingsmere. Lots of bream but of no size. A couple of smoothound provided fun on light spinning rod, hoped the first was a nice bass, the second I knew what was coming...
Then had an hour or so after tope at Pullar. Caught two around 25/30lbs which was satisfying.
Weather went off towards the end of the day but had been very hot and sunny.
Only other fish of the day a small wrassse on a sidewinder....

We had 1 bream 2.5 lbs. 1 Smoothie 7 lbs. 10 Thornies up to 15lb and a dozen or so small doggies. Wind got up and it was pretty lumpy for a while - difficult standing up.

Anybody been getting any mackerel yet ? We had one 'lazy' rod over with feathers on but didn't try for them with any great effort.

I went West yesterday, all the way to Poole.

Had a nice Smoothhound, small blonde and a few Bream to 4lb. Also a nice edible crab caught me, well took a fancy to my lead weight actually.  A few small Congers, Bull huss to 15lb and the usual pout and doggies, interestingly couldn't find any fresh Mackerel so had to make do with frozen baits.

We tried sandown on Sunday and only had 1 bream, moved over to bullocks and only got a pollack, dogfish and pout even tried Sturbridge on the way home and had a smoothound on the drift.
Thought it was just me but found the fishing hard going on Sunday

Ahab, I was going to ask whether moving to different swims increases catch rate. I tend to put the pig down and stop for the session. Am I lazy or do others do this. Last year we were at a location for 4 hours without a bite and then everything changed and ran out of bait in two hours. I have said before I class myself as a dangler not angler but love fishing.

I tend. Not to move. As I. Believe. At. Some. Time in the tide it will fish.   Some places. Fish. The. Same time. Others. Differ. All the time. No your. Not lazy. I love. Watching. A. Boat. Up anchor. And. Move. Then 5 mins later. A boat. Will replace the one Happens all the time the only. Boats. That. Have to. Move r. Charters. Punters. Are impatient think the skipper is really trying if. He moving. Around. Get a plan stick to it log every. Day you put. For your own record. That helps

How many times has someone had a really good day on a mark then gone back there the next day, same mark, same weather, same conditions and not a bite. Just saying that you never really know what sort of a day you're gonna get.

Thanks for that Ray, I do mark my fishing areas on a paper chart so gradually getting to fish all the western solent where permitted. (electric cables cross over some of the more interesting places).

Going to try Totland next week as the weather forecast is looking more settled. Thats put a spanner in the worksConfused

Well done Ray , a lesson to be learned to stick it out in one place and not tear about hoping to find the fish.
I will follow your lead next time I am out and save myself a fortune in fuel.
