Lovely day out yesterday. Wind dropped off and weather was nice and calm.
Had a few small bass, some lovely big fat mackerel ( smoking today), and some nice plaice on the drift.
No squid but perhaps too early.
How didnít anyone else fare?
Johnny

Saw the Dolphins on way the Dean Tail. Just did a half day mackerel bash. Some really small ones & 2 very large ones both caught by a 9 year old boy on his first trip. He wants to come again!

Lovely day Saturday. Mackerel were hard to find initially which wasted valuable fishing time. Tried a new mark which didn't produce anything except dogfish, tried drifting another mark and was weeded up within seconds, then found a boil of mackerel, enough to fill the smoker anyway. In hindsight I should have gone further out but it was a brisk SE which wasn't likely to be comfortable at 45deg to the tide run. Topped up the tan though, and got my new Navionics Boating app working with an unsuppoted WiFi hub so I was happy SonarCharts is functioning again.

We headed out Friday also spotted the Dolphins, quite a good size pod.

Fished Selsey way again, I ended up with 1 double figure Undulate and bitten off on 150lb mono by a good Tope at the side of the boat just as we were netting it a good 30lb+ by the length of it.   Good scrap but disappointed I didn't get to weigh or photo it

we had a hunt around for some sole Friday night, managed 2 to 3/4 lb, but fishing generally poor, with just small bass, eels and small smuts.
did have a hunt around for mackerel, but Southampton water and brambles were barren of mackerel. plenty of annoying endangered bass tho...lol
