Has anybody been fishing HMS Dolphin/Fort Blockhouse recently?
If so have you had any luck and with what bait and rigs?
Fished several times now from the car park near the pilots bridge and had nothing but weed tried various baits and starting to lose faith.
Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Hello, I fished a couple of weeks ago. Between me and my mate we had 4 pollack all to spinners casting towards pilot bridge. Rag worm produced nothing 2 hook flapper size 4 kamazans, big bait (whole squid) Pully pennell  cast in to the deep water towards harbour done nothing till high tide, then a smooth hound and a nice ray. unfortunately as fishing picked up I had to pack up.
My other mate who fishes there regular was getting lots of wrasse not sure what he was using though.

Hope this helps.

Thursday 5th may, started fishing at 1900, High tide 2315, at a height of 4.9m. I packed up at high tide. My mate caught the wrasse on a paternoster with rag the Monday before similar times.

Well Fort Blockhouse has come up trumps with the lure fishing to date I have had 17 bass (all returned) and 1 sea trout sadly nothing on the beachcaster front. largest bass 8lb+ smallest 1.5lb but averaging 2-3lb for the rest best session 5 bass in 2hrs.
Lets hope the mackrel show up soon lots of gull activity around the HMS Victory and the odd few gulls diving just off the Haslar pier.

Lure fishing here is the dogs wotsits and very enjoyable but limited to a couple of hours either side of high tide during daylight. Sadly I have lost all faith in traditional fishing costing a small fortune in lead weights and bait with not a single bite to show for it. Any helpful hints would be appreciated as I have tried all manner of different baits/cocktails, distances, hook sizes and presentations and still nothing. It would be such a shame to write this venue off as it it is on my doorstep (I live on Fort Blockhouse). Can somebody please point me in the right direction or leave a message on here and I will pop down say hello and see what others are doing if anyone decides to have a crack.

Any lure will do I have had them on jellies, wedges, tobies, and hard as with all lure fishing its just finding the fish and lure on the day.
PO12 2AB is the postcode but you will need to become a member of the fishing club applications are available at the gatehouse.
