Believe it or not, I'm going out tomorrow! Wonders never cease.

But I'm heading west to try for Plaice and/or Rays. Managed to order some lug and rag from Nobles, so fingers crossed.

Good luck to all that get out.

Well, I actually made it!
After reports of good catches during the last couple of weeks, I now find out it just died in the last few days. Typical! We had just 1 small Plaice and a doggie in the first four hours, and little sign of action on any of the 20 boats around us either (rumours of a trawler wiping out the mark) so went after some rays on a nearby bank for the last few hours. Ended up with 3 Small Eyed and 2 Spotted with a shedload of dogs.

So at least plan B worked reasonably well.

Great to be out again though, in near perfect conditions. Result!

The water colour has killed the plaice fishing, not the trawlers. It was nice a clear a couple of weeks ago!

After i blanked last week at the blocks decided to venture further out. Rewarded with pout, wrasse, rays and dogfish. Was very misty out there pretty much all day. Agree, water is not clear at the moment and this is probably affecting the plaice. Great to be out and even got a bit sunburnt.

Out in Bracklesham both Saturday and Sunday over the high tide. Both days were pretty hard work with only a small bass and whiting. No bass though. However, a first for me as a hefty octopus grabbed my live bait and proceeded to squirt me as it came to the surface from about three foot away. Luckily it was water!
