I might try and get out on Friday; it could be my last chance this season for that elusive cod.

If anyone is down Langstone way tomorrow, would you mind taking a quick look at the Eastney slip and seeing if its clear?  I dont want a long journey on Friday only to find that I cant launch!

Cheers guys

Was down there today Duncan, there's a fair amount of shingle on the slipway, I wouldn't be able to get out as my
Trailers to low but you might be able to get out but it might be a struggle and a wasted journey. It was blowing today and strong winds thurs so it will be properly worse by Friday.

Try Haslar Marina Slipway, it's public but you'll need to pay for parking Cry Be aware that it's tidal a launch 4hrs before HT and recovery 3 hrs after is OK

Ray (Ahab) kindly offered to take me out with him today.

Early signs were that it was going to be fairly rough one but the sea was surprisingly flat and just got better and better throughout the day.

Despite trying very hard, we had no cod.  Our big cuttle and squid baits were immediately stripped by the hordes of smaller fish on the bottom.  We did have plenty of decent sized whiting, pout and dogfish.  I think Ray also wanted to replenish stocks in his home fish tank as he also caught the smallest doggie and smoothhound that I've ever seen!

A great day out with great company.  Ray certainly knows his fishing and I learnt a shed load from him - thanks Ray.
