After a late start due to fog holding up the crew's arrival. Went down east towards Selsey to find loads of boats at anchor or drifting probably for plaice. 50 yards visibility at best so thank goodness for radar. Did highlight the need for all boats to have radar reflectors as some were not showing up until very close or not at all.

Crowded on drift line and was warned that there was a long net line east to west along one of the best plaice drift lines. Anyway that is my excuse for us catching sod all there & so I moved.

Went to my favourite smoothound mark and we had 3 hours of non stop action with loads of smoothound 5 - 14lb 9 all on harbour crab or rag/squid plus 3 nice rays and , of course, dogs on the non crab baits.

Just after I upped anchor the Fog completely disappeared & we had a summer's day ride back to Chi with a bunch of very happy punters.

Can anyone understand the logic of a kayaker paddling down the centre of the Chi Channel in thick fog?
He shrugged when I asked if he had advised anyone he was out there & to my suggestion that he continued nearer the shoreline to avoid getting hit. He continued paddling on the same route (I did advise Harbour master of his location etc).

Anyone else go up east & how did you do

Good luck Ray- I am off to Norway Sunday morning to do some fishing . Stand more chance of a cod in the first 20 mins of fishing than all last winter in the Solent!

Went out Saturday and Sunday thought it was just me but fishing was very slow with just a few dogfish and a small pup hound.
