Friday - there were 145 people boat fishing for Cod in a comp in Nab area and only 10 were caught. Lots of big whiting and several nice bass on the charter the boats I help out with in peak season.

We were fishing East of Nab, fingers,, for a while but the tide got to much and had to come back in, there was no weed but also no decent fish.  Eight on the Charter, best fish was a 2lb whiting.  spent £100 on bait... where do you stop ????

Fished Medmery area, I thought the other marks would be crowded. Plenty of dogs and a ray until the tide turned then it went dead. Same elsewhere I heard. I went home via a bank and caught 6 bass on lures, none keepers but good sport.

Fished Culver, Greta to be out. Lots of boats there too...
Had a some thornbacks, no dogfish, a smoothound, a nce bass, pouting and a few largish whiting.
Was wondering if the lack of small whiting accounts for the lack of cod? Usually there a loads around, would make sense if they follow the food.
Scandalised by the bass situation for next year. I keep maybe one or two a year....I we are banned so should everyone regardless. It's the only way the stock will recover.
