been hearing throu my son that according to facebook there have been a lot of cod/codding being caught in the solent dont do facebook just wondered if any of you can shed any light and if there is any sign of them nab area big tides coming up so may try nab 1/2 bouy area if weather is ok

Try anchoring gilkicker in the solent fished its tits off last year

I never fish the Solent until the weed clears but with these temperatures we might still have a weed problem when the cod arrive.

Fished Sturbridge yesterday - no cod but a few Ray's - pretty quiet with only a a couple of Dogs bream and smuts to go with the Rays - weed wasn't a problem but it was such a small tide - it took a couple of hours for the tide to turn completely

never really fished this far in the solent as i used to have boat in chi harbour so any advice as to how far of gilkicker/browndown checked chart seems to be deep water about 6/7 hundred yards of shore is it safe to anchor there also the out fall at browndown shows wreckage around it are these small wrecks or just broken ground where wrecks have been broken up or blown up maybe grateful for any advice thanks

Find a space on the 60-70 foot depth along the coastline anywhere from Gilkicker point northwards along the Stokes Bay/Browndown shore.

If you go out from chi harbour I wouldn't bother heading to the Solent. Much better cod marks closer to you. The Solent fished well the last couple of years but way to many boats sharing a few fish.

sorry skillpot ment to say i used to be out of chi now out of langstone just looking for pastures new ahab/salar thanks as always maybe i could use a disability blue badge and force my way in to a parking bay would you think 12/20 and ugly stix 20/30s would be to heavy they are very light 20/30
