Be good to share our results on here as it seems they are rare to come by
Bait still expensive £22 a box any cheaper ideas of bait ?

go up the solent any where from   hillhead to browndown don't   buy 5 pound boxes   bulk buy as many 1 pound   boxes   as you can afford for the   whole cod season initialy   more expensive the saving is take   5 or 6 boxes out with you defrost 1 box on way out and others only when you need to   so far this year   the most ive used in a sesh was 3 boxes and saved 2 instead of defrosting a whole 5 pound   box and wasting   some of it also   use   cuttle    as any left overs can be re frozen

Cuttle is a great bait & worth freezing up when they are around earlier in the year. Picked up several when out & about as well as catching a couple (had to be quick with the net).

Like Ray, I buy calamari in bulk via a mate who gets them via an Indian wholesaler. Still enough boxes left for next year. Also get as many velvet crabs during winter off the potters and freeze them down. Good for hounds, rays & bass . Boat & shore for hounds.

Thanks guys Iíve beach combed Lee-On-The-Solent before and found a few cuttlefish only ever caught one by accident really nasty little fella lol!
I must admit I try to keep the squid as frozen as possible never use a bucket of water unless I know all the bait will be used
Fingers crossed for this weekend got Sunday hopefully wind is down a bit
Tight lines folks 🎣

Hi, we are out on the 22nd as there seems to be a weather window. We will be going to western solent for anything that takes the bait. Hoping the weed problem is solved, will let you know the results.

Went out to west Solent yesterday in flat sea and some sunshine. Lovely day with dogfish, thornback, gurnard. Lost big fish (gutted) something with teeth as it cut through trace. Spent the night in Yarmouth good food and beer then out to Totland this morning. Fishfinder buzzing from one metre down to bottom. Caught loads of bream, dogs and smoothound. Great couple of days with good company and spitfire giving a great display. This is what sea fishing is all about. Dave
