I think I need it the damn forecast just gets worse. This weekends a total blowout and next week looks like more of the same.

I would not mind but I have packed my wife and son off for the week so I can get some hours in.

Looks like the only fish I'm going to see is in Tesco as the wife drags me round, before getting me to work on the house!

Sunday looks a blow out, although according to XCweather between 1 and 2am on Monday might be OK!!!

And I was so looking forward to my 4 day break as well!! Looks like a complete blowout.

Want to move Holly Anna to her new marina - looks like there maybe a window tomorrow between 14:00 onwards, might try then - does that sound OK/safe?

Looking at the weather foercast, it appears the wind dies off the same Sunday and Monday... wonder if that is worth a quick blast out to culver/bembridge/sandown in search of a bass.....

Lamp?????

Sean,

Would be OK if the wind really does drop. However, the tide will be ebbing out of Langstone on a quite a big tide in the late afternoon, so if the wind is strong from the South, you need to take care.

Some of the others who have more experience of Langstone than me, can probably advise (Ahab ?).

Thanks for the advice Hugh - hopefully the wind will drop off early and I will try for slack, but if a little later then it should be fin until around 17:15 when it really begins to rip.

Do you feel the tide much around the entrance gate?

No, not really because you can keep to the edge. Also, a semi displacement boat can go a lot faster than the tide.

On the approach, with a strong onshore wide against a big tide the waves can get steep and start to break , can be a bit of a white knuckle ride. As you would expect on the flood, and at slack it flattens considerably.  I would only expect it to be an issue in 20 knots plus winds.

However, I've only been using Southsea Marina for six months, others on the forum have much, much more experience of the entrance, and I sure can advise.

Sean,

Sorry, miss read your post. No,  tide in and out of the marina entrance is no issue. You just need to keep some speed to maintain steerage.

I am looking out of the window at brilliant sunshine and not a breath of wind - it really gets frustrating.

If it does not blow today I am going to be really peed off.
