My turn lol.
Over the last couple of days i have been getting text's from mark asking if i wanted to go fishing(silly question to ask me) anyways i sorted a time out with Mark as to what time i will meet him on the beach,so 3pm comes and im on the beach (wall) chatting to mark and waiting for the tide to drop so we can get on the spit and fish into darkness.
Mark had never been to this part of the beach,so it was a 1st for him lol,
Both rods were out at different distance's,i was using a pulley rig for the rays(gotta hope aint you) and mark was using a pulley pennel, and some kind of clipped down rig.
As lo tide was gettign near i had a nice little bite and reeled in only to see a fish on my main line(trace still about 40 yards in the water) once the fish came to shore i noticed the line in its mouth, then the fish just dropped to the floor and i picked it up and looked at the fish and i was'nt to sure what it was( i was puzzled) mark then went onto his phone and found out it was a herring and every time you pick the fish up you get covered in scales lol.
Well i got a couple of pics and will up load them once i get camera out the car.
I said to Mark look fresh bait lol!! so once we got off the spit we got sorted on the wall and its comfort here as you can fish right out your car(lazy night) so now the Herrring was cut up into a fillets and then i used it as fresh bait, whilke using bluey's and sandeels.
mark caught a little bass so he didnt blank and then just after that i caught a nice little dogfish of about 2lb.
Welll that was that for the fishing,i didnt see anymore bites nore did mark and i didnt hear of any rays caught from anyone as there was about 8 anglers on the sea wall.We then packed up and made our way home.
The weather was brillant and i couldnt of asked for better company either.it was good to catch up with yuo again Mark, and i no we will do it again sometime soon.its been a long time since you and Hugh met up so next time il try and get Hugh out to play as well.
Im off out again tonight in the hope of a ray (fingers x'ed)Wink
I'll put pics up later on..

Off out again 2nite in hope of a dam ray!!
Where are those fish!!!

Lee, people catch Allis Shad in the Solent and mistakenly identify them as Herring (they are very similar) BUT Allis Shad are a protected species and there are serious penalties for anyone taking or killing tham!

Looking forward to the picture.

Bet you any money it was a shad. Quite rare AND protected! the scales are quite large and as you say they fall off everywhere. Thought that you would know your species Lee LOL
